1. Faster speed of erection compared to the conventional construction materials like timber and heavy steel.
2 . Higher level of precision achieved through design software minimizes costs as wastage is greatly minimized. This has made LGS quite affordable.
3. The low weight of the LGS structure warrants it's on roofs and higher floors of multi storey buildings. For instance, hoisting an LGS truss is less cumbersome compared timber or conventional steel truss of equal strength. The LGS has higher strength to weight ratio and since steel is priced depending on its weight, LGS construction is cheaper.
4. Other advantages of LGS include: environmental friendly method, aesthetically appealing finish, require small labour which cab either be semi-skilled or unskilled.
In Kenya, the the key players in this field include: TechnoConstruct, TrussTech, UltraSpan, steelex, among others.
